Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)
RSE is a key component of the Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum. It provides children with opportunities to develop knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and practical skills necessary to establish and sustain healthy personal relationships with self and others. In addition to learning about relationships, RSE invites children to explore concepts such as physical development and human sexuality. Please click on the link below to access further information on RSE and practical tips for parents on how to approach this area at home.

Standardised Test Scores Explained
Pupils from 1st - 6th class complete standardised tests in English Reading and Maths in Term 3 each school year. These results are communicated to parents on the End of Year Report cards which are shared with parents via Aladdin Connect in the month of June each year.
It can sometimes be difficult to interpret youir child's STen score or understand why they went up or down from one year to the next.
Please click on the following link which explains to parents what these scores mean and how they should be interpreted - https://ncca.ie/media/1400/english_tip_sheet_sten.pdf
This explanation sheet is also available in different languages on the NCCA website which can be accessed by clicking here.
The Reading Process
The importance of working with your child on developing their reading skills from a young age cannot be overemphasised. Please see the link below with recommendations on how to support your child in this area.
